Rowland was created K.B. when Charles II was crowned for the 2nd time at Westminster in 1661 Living at Smithills Hall, Near Bolton

After his death Sir Rowland's body was conveyed by torchlight procession from Smithells to Bolton.

Rowland married Anne DAVENPORT [scrapbook]. Anne died in 1673.

She brought the estates of Sutton into the Belasyse family.

Sir Henry Belasyse was MP for Yorkshire.  He was created KB at the coronation of Charles II.  He died of wounds received in a duel with his friend, Thomas Porter. They were drunk and Sir Henry struck his friend in jest, but Thomas made more of the matter than was wise.  They drew swords but were separated by their friends.  Thomas did not want to wait until morning to settle the matter and chased after Sir Henry, catching up with him in Covent garden, where they fought the fatal duel.  The circumstances were recorded in Pepy's Diary.
